At a meeting held of the Town of Palermo Town Board on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, the Board voted to suspend the Town of Palermo Recreation Program for the 2026 Summer. The action was taken due to the lack of staffing.  The Town Board has made a concerted effort and has worked over the last several months with the Oswego County Youth Bureau, in an all-out effort to keep the program intact for the residents of Palermo, which included raising wages and budget limits if necessary. The program requires a minimum of three adult Directors, and an additional EMT/Nurse certified personnel available. With the lack of staffing, we have no other option but to suspend the program for this summer.

The Clerk’s office will continue to take resumes and applications of interest for the 2027 program. The Board will be looking at budget, staffing, and several other areas of concern when considering the future of the recreation program during the 2027 Budget process.

We are now accepting applications for "Recreation Director for 2027: the Recreation Director must also serve as the On-Site Director during the program!
